VANCOUVER – Multicultural radio network Fairchild Radio Group has wrapped up a week-long public service campaign dedicated to raising awareness of animal well-being.

From June 9 to 15, veterinarians, animal cruelty investigation officers, pet adopters and representatives from the SPCA and Humane Society guest-hosted Chinese-language programs on Fairchild Radio’s stations in Toronto (AM1430 and FM88.9), Calgary (FM94.7) and Vancouver (AM1470 and FM96.1).  Discussion topics ranged from caring for pets at home to whether Canada needs tougher punishments for animal cruelty.

In addition, the stations organized their own events to support the cause.  Toronto’s team hosted a pet photo contest, Calgary staff shot a video of pets waiting to be adopted from the Humane Society, and Vancouver’s group sold cookies, stuffed animals and other items to raise funds in support BC SPCA’s animal protection program (pictured).
