WOODSTOCK, Ont. — Moviegoers in Oxford County, Ont., have been enjoying a drive-in movie experience this summer at the newly restored Oxford Drive In, despite the Covid-19 pandemic, and local telecom provider Execulink Telecom announced Tuesday it is now the Platinum Season Sponsor for the outdoor movie theatre.
“We pride ourselves on being fiercely local and supporting local initiatives that better our communities,” said Ian Stevens, president and CEO of Execulink Telecom, in the news release. “Oxford County is full of kind, hard-working people who deserve peace of mind in knowing they’re staying safe while enjoying all that summer has to offer.”
First opened in 1950, the Oxford Drive In closed in 2015 and laid dormant until Woodstock residents Angila Peters and Adam Shaw came together to reopen the old community favourite. The outdoor movie theatre quickly amassed a dedicated social media following, with people thrilled at the possibility of a safe, socially distanced, movie viewing experience during the global pandemic, says the release.
“Sometimes, what matters most is the simplest of things. We’re proud to offer support to the Oxford Drive-In while they create positive impacts in our community,” added Andrea Atkinson, vice-president of customer experience at Execulink Telecom, which is also the Internet provider for the drive-in.
