Execulink rolling out high-speed fibre to Oneida Nation of the Thames

Independent ISP Execulink Telecom announced Wednesday the upcoming launch of fibre internet services offering speeds up to 3 Gbps in Oneida Nation of the Thames, located in southwestern Ontario.

Fibre installations in select areas will begin in early July 2025, with construction continuing through the summer and fall, Execulink said in a press release. Existing wireless customers in Oneida Nation of the Thames will need to speak with Execulink’s sales team to select a new fibre internet plan, Execulink said.

“We are excited to bring our cutting-edge Fibre infrastructure directly to homes and businesses in Oneida Nation of the Thames,” said Execulink CEO Ian Stevens, in the company’s press release. “Our goal is to empower the community with high-speed internet that meets the demands of modern living and working.”

This fibre upgrade is being delivered in collaboration with Southwestern Integrated Fibre Technology (SWIFT) through its latest initiative, SWIFT 2.0, which is a provincially funded broadband expansion program that received $35 million in total funding from the Ontario government to deliver high-speed internet to nearly 3,000 underserved homes and businesses in hard-to-reach areas across southwestern Ontario.

Through the SWIFT 2.0 initiative, SWIFT received $3.9 million in provincial funding for the Oneida Nation of the Thames fibre project, awarded to Execulink, to bring high-speed internet access to more than 560 homes and businesses in the community, according to a SWIFT press release. Construction on the project is expected to be completed by December 2025, SWIFT said.

“Improving access to high-speed internet is essential to supporting the long-term success and well-being of communities across the region,” Barry Field, SWIFT’s executive director, said in a statement. “This initiative highlights the importance of working together with government, industry, and local partners to deliver modern infrastructure and ensure that residents of Oneida Nation of the Thames have the digital tools they need to connect, grow, and thrive.”
