WOODSTOCK, Ont. — As Canada honours its veterans today, Execulink Telecom in southwestern Ontario announced it is making a $1,000 donation to the Royal Canadian Legion to support its annual Poppy Fund Campaign, which has seen a decrease in sales this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Four local Ontario branches of the Canadian Legion in Port Dover, Tillsonburg, Thedford and Woodstock will receive a donation for the campaign in support of veterans.
“Remembrance Day is an important event for our country and our communities. We are given the opportunity to spend a moment, uninterrupted, to honour those who have fought for the freedoms we enjoy in Canada. In turn, Execulink is proud to give its appreciation and support to the Royal Canadian Legion during a time it is most needed,” said Ian Stevens, president and CEO of Execulink Telecom, in a press release.
The Royal Canadian Legion’s annual poppy campaign has faced many challenges this year, as reported by CTV News, Global News and CBC News.
“Our vision, mission and values guide us when giving back to our local communities,” said Andrea Atkinson, vice-president of customer experience at Execulink Telecom. “We’ve all grown accustomed to the community events, school assemblies, and the poppy donation boxes that typically accompany Remembrance Day, but like many other things, it looks a bit different this year. Now, more than ever, is the time to support each other and our communities.”
