Evanov’s Winnipeg stations raise over $75,000 for Manitoba food banks

WINNIPEG — Evanov Communications announced today its Winnipeg radio stations Energy 106, Hot 100.5 and 92.7 CKJS recently raised more than $75,000 in cash and food donations for Harvest Manitoba, which will help feed over 80,000 Manitobans this holiday season.

The stations held a 12-hour radiothon called “Hope for the Holidays” on Friday, Dec. 10, which included the participation of Energy 106’s Wheeler in the Morning along with Hot 100.5’s Mark and Dilly and 92.7 CKJS Good Morning Philippines’ Chester and Donna.

“Thank you to everyone at the Evanov Group for organizing Hope for the Holidays,” said Vince Barletta, president and CEO of Harvest Manitoba, in a press release.

“The need at Harvest has spiked in the last few months. This campaign has raised $75,000 to date, plus hundreds of pounds of food for Harvest Holiday Hampers. This is a time of great need, and we are so grateful. We are a community of Harvest Stars. Thank you to you and all your listeners who tuned in and donated.”

Harvest Manitoba has a network of more than 325 food banks and agencies across the province and has become the fourth largest food distributor of its kind in the country. The organization collects 11 million pounds of food each year and is currently sharing it with 83,000 Manitobans this month, half of whom are children, says the press release.

“Part of our corporate mission and the mandate of each radio station is that of delivering exceptional results for the community,” said Paul Evanov, president and CEO of Evanov Communications.

“I am delighted with our entire Winnipeg team led by our Program Director Adam West for this effort during this time of need for such a worthy organization. I encourage everyone to contribute to Harvest Manitoba now and throughout the year.”
