Evanov’s Hot Country 88.5 goes to air in GTA

NEWMARKET, Ont. – Evanov Communications last week launched its all-new country radio station, Hot Country 88.5, serving the Greater Toronto Area.

Based in Newmarket, Ont., Hot Country 88.5 began broadcasting on Friday, Nov. 17 at 9 a.m. ET.

“Hot Country 88.5 will have a fresh, current upbeat country sound and will feature the best artists in country music such as Blake Shelton, Lainey Wilson, Keith Urban, Morgan Wallen, Luke Bryan, Luke Combs, Dallas Smith, Jelly Roll, Kane Brown, Dean Brody and Thomas Rhett, to name just a few,” reads a press release announcing the station’s launch.

“After assessing the market and its various needs we determined that there was a large unfulfilled demand for a local country music station in this part of the GTA,” Paul Evanov, president and CEO of Evanov Communications, said in the release.

Evanov Communications already operates three other country music stations in Ontario.

“We believe the time is right to provide GTA country music listeners and advertisers with a much-needed country station and Hot Country 88.5 will do just that,” Evanov added.

The station’s Hot Country Mornings show is hosted by Tracy Lynn, “a proven veteran of the country format” who has spent most of her career as a country radio announcer, the release says.

Katie & Company airs middays, while The Rob and Holly Show featuring special guests from the country music world is heard weekday evenings. Casey Clarke does his Country Countdown show on weekends.

Hot Country 88.5 will also provide local news, weather and traffic information for GTA listeners.
