Evanov rebrands and expands Brantford’s CKPC-FM

TORONTO – Now calling it a “Super Station” Evanov Radio Group relaunched its Brantford station, CKPC-FM, as FM 92 The Jewel, serving Brantford, Kitchener-Waterloo, Hamilton, Burlington and Oakville Markets.

ERG says the station has one of the most powerful and largest signals in south-central Ontario and will feature “the best current hits, recent favourites, and timeless classics from Michael Bublé, Beyoncé, Rod Stewart, Diana Krall, Colbie Caillat, Whitney Houston, Elton John, Chicago, Air Supply, Bob Dylan, Celine Dion, John Denver, Cyndi Lauper, Enrique Iglesias, Barry Manilow and many more,” reads the press release.

The station was previously branded “the New 92-FM” with a Hot AC format and was acquired by ERG in September of 2009. It actually dates back to 1923, when Wallace Russ and some of his friends accidentally began to broadcast while puttering with radio equipment in his garage.

The Morning Show host is Ed McMahon. Originally from London, he has been in radio and broadcasting for over 35 years, and for 30 years straight, doing morning drive with the last 23 waking up Brantford Ontario on CKPC AM. Middays are hosted by Melissa Forsyth, afternoon drive with Marc Scott, and evenings with Matt Ruiss.

Based on market study research and requests from listeners, says the release, the station has introduced a new evening radio program providing popular music not often heard in the market.

The Lounge, every evening from 8-11, features music from the great American song book, Jazz classics, pop hits and standards that span six decades, performed by the legends and modern-day artists.

The Lounge also includes “Smart Talk”, compelling features about lifestyle, wellness, food, finance and entertainment of interest to the target audience.

Other ERG Jewel stations include: CKDX-FM 88.5 in Toronto; CJWL-FM 98.5 in Ottawa; CKHK-FM 107.7; CFJL-FM 106.1 in Winnipeg. The Jewel stations are dedicated to serving the 35+ market.
