Evanov hires Pervin as GM of new Ottawa station

TORONTO – Al Pervin has been hired as general manager of The Jewel 98.5 FM, the new Evanov Radio Group station which is expected to sign on-air in January of 2006.

For the past 13 years, Pervin has provided management consulting and sales training services to radio companies across North America. He’s worked in radio in one capacity or another for 40 years and recently ran a software business that provides web sites and other Internet marketing services to the radio industry.

Pervin was GM of the CHUM Group of radio stations in Windsor/Detroit and has been a sales manager at radio stations in Michigan and Ontario. His on-air experience has included talk shows in Montreal; TV anchor/reporting at CBC New Brunswick; national radio newscasting/editing at Broadcast News.

He was a newscaster at CFRA in the 1970s.

“Expanding our Ontario operation into the Ottawa market is an exciting development for the Evanov Radio Group,” said Bill Evanov, president of the company. “We will provide a unique easy to listen to format to residents of Ottawa/Gatineau… and its appeal will be substantial to the 35+ demographic, a demo which has been under-serviced in that radio market. Al’s 40-year radio history will provide us with strong leadership.”

Evanov Radio Group owns and operates Toronto area radio stations: CIDC-FM (Z103.5); CKDX-FM (Foxy 88.5); and CIAO (AM530); and their newest stations CKHZ-FM (Z103.5) in Halifax and 98.5 The Jewel in Ottawa.
