ET phone Canada: Entertainment Tonight goes Canuck

TORONTO – America’s premier daily entertainment news show, Entertainment Tonight, is coming to Hollywood North. ET Canada will air nightly across Canada on Global starting Sept. 12.

The show will be hosted by Global personality Cheryl Hickey, along with on-air reporters Rick Campanelli (former MuchMusic icon), Rosey Edeh (former on-air talent for CNN, NBC, and CTV’s E-Talk), Kim D’Eon (former reporter for CBC’s The Hour), and Roz Weston (former senior reporter for Toronto 1’s A-List).

“It’s extremely exciting to be part of the world’s largest entertainment news brand,” says Barbara Williams, Senior VP of Programming for Global Television Network. “This program plays a key role in the Global schedule, giving us a power hour of entertainment news, and further underscoring our commitment to celebrating Canadian talent across our network.”

The Canadian version will be much like its U.S. parent (produced by Paramount Domestic Television), with a nightly half hour of news reports on film, television, music, fashion, literature, and interactive media. It will have the same theme song and graphics, but will feature a blend of global and Canadian entertainment news told from a Canadian perspective.

“ET Canada is an effective and powerful way to build Canada’s star system by sharing our Canadian stars and their stories with our viewers on a daily basis,” says Zev Shalev, executive producer for ET Canada.

The show will air at various times on the channels across the Global Television Network.
