TORONTO — Corus Entertainment announced today a new hour-long weekend edition of Entertainment Tonight Canada will premiere on Global TV Saturday Sept. 18 at 7:30 p.m.
ET Canada Weekend, which will also be available to stream live or on demand via StackTV or the Global TV app, will deliver “in-depth celebrity interviews and exclusive features, while bringing Canadian audiences the biggest news stories of the week,” reads a Corus press release.
It will be hosted by Sangita Patel (above), who has been an entertainment reporter with ET Canada since 2014.
Patel has travelled the globe to interview some of Hollywood’s biggest stars, including Julia Roberts, Dwayne Johnson, Viola Davis, George Clooney and Helen Mirren, says the release.
Patel serves as Canada’s CoverGirl ambassador, having been named as the face of CoverGirl’s Simply Ageless Collection in 2019.
She is dedicated to using her national platform to raise awareness of organizations close to her heart, including Pathways to Education, Children’s Wish and ONE Campaign, says the release.
“Most recently, Sangita spearheaded ET Canada’s Help India broadcast special when India was battling the nation’s worst Covid-19 crisis, bringing together some of the biggest names in entertainment to help raise over $135,000 for the Humanitarian Coalition’s emergency response efforts,” the release says.
Patel will continue to serve as entertainment reporter for ET Canada on weeknights. The 17th season of ET Canada, hosted by Cheryl Hickey, will premiere on Tuesday, Sept. 7 at 7:30 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT on Global.
