ET attendance up 10%

TAMPA, Fla. – The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers has announced that Emerging Technologies 2006, which concludes today, attracted 1,028 attendees, a 10% increase over 2005 in Huntington Beach, Calif., and a 51% increase over the last time ET was in Florida, which was 2003 in Miami.

There was no on-site registration this year, due to the fact that ET 2006 sold out last Wednesday, Jan. 4, at which time SCTE began maintaining a waiting list.

The annual conference, which offers cable telecommunications professionals a view three-to-five years into the industry’s engineering future, has been taking place since Tuesday, Jan. 10 at the Tampa Marriott Waterside Hotel & Marina in Tampa, Fla.

“With the brightest technologists and visionaries in our industry filling the conference’s ballrooms, board rooms, and other meeting places this week, clearly enthusiasm for the future of broadband technology continues to escalate,” said SCTE president and CEO John Clark. “SCTE has been delighted to facilitate a gathering so critical to the future health of our industry.”

ET 2007 is set for Tuesday through Thursday, Jan. 23-25, with the location yet to be determined.
