TORONTO – UXP Systems and Ericsson have signed a global reseller agreement that will allow TV service providers to offer a more personalized viewing experience via the MINT Unified Services Platform on Ericsson Mediaroom IPTV platforms.
Working across both Ericsson Mediaroom and Ericsson Mediaroom Reach platforms, MINT provides a converged user experience across all devices. With MINT, providers can simplify next generation user access and onboarding, and create universal profiles for personalized experiences, delivering an engaging viewing experience for customers. This combined solution enhances the provider's ability to monetize next generation services, provides a consistent, personalized user experience across all screens, and maximizes their competitive posture in the markets they serve.
“The collaboration between Ericsson Mediaroom and UXP Systems’ MINT Unified Services Platform empowers Ericsson to provide operators with the most compelling TV services”, said Ben Huang, Ericsson’s VP of marketing of product area Mediaroom, in the news release. “Personalization will be at the forefront of the viewing experience, allowing users to create their personal profiles, receive video on demand recommendations, and blend cloud services into their TV profiles.”
“Ericsson Mediaroom is leading the way in terms of personalization and integrating traditional content with over-the-top content”, added Jim MacDonald, VP sales & marketing at UXP Systems. “However, many operators still don’t have the flexibility in their back-office subscriber platforms to accommodate OTT user onboarding, create user profiles and integrate personal cloud services into IPTV. By combining the MINT Unified Services Platform with the world class Ericsson Mediaroom platform, operators can transform offerings and provide integrated, user-centric experiences across any screen.”
In other company news, UXP Systems announced that cable and telecom veteran Nikos Katinakis has joined its board of directors.
Currently the EVP Networks and Group CTO for telco startup Reliance Jio in India, Katinakis was previously SVP of architecture and technology development for network and IT at Rogers Communications, as well as the Chief Information Security Officer, where he was responsible for the technology strategy, selection, and roadmap that guided the Rogers deployment of next generation capabilities across all access networks and all services. He also spent several years at Ericsson, and held progressively senior management positions, culminating with his role as Chief Technology Officer for Ericsson Canada.
“With Nikos’ extensive experience in both the vendor and customer side of the operator marketplace, we look forward to his guidance and contribution as we continue our global expansion” said founder and CEO Gemini Waghmare, in the announcement. “He has already been an extremely helpful advisor to UXP Systems in our work in the North American marketplace.”
