MONTREAL – Ericsson is relocating its Montreal-based R&D and services centre to a new site on Poirier Street in Montreal’s borough of Saint-Laurent.

The new 265,350 square feet facility will house the company's more than 1700 employees in the area, and the move is expected to start at the end of 2016.  The company said Wednesday that the new facility underscores its long-term commitment to the City of Montreal.

"Ericsson's new location will offer our employees the opportunity to work in next-generation buildings, designed to increase employee collaboration through flexibility and efficiency”, said Mark Henderson, head of Ericsson Canada, in the news release.  “We look forward to remaining in Montreal and continuing to build a strong technology ecosystem in Canada."

Ericsson has operated in Canada since 1953 and today has more than 3,500 employees across the country.  The Montreal site is one of Ericsson's largest R&D Centres outside of Sweden.
