TORONTO – Ericsson has acquired Toronto-based ConceptWave in an all-cash deal that Ericsson says complements and strengthens its OSS/BSS offerings with order management and product catalog solutions. ConceptWave was founded in 2000 and has developed leading-edge software solutions primarily for telecom operators and has a current staff of 170.
The company's customers, primarily telecom operators, are located in Canada, USA, Latin America, Europe and Asia.
"There is a trend towards more personalization of services where end-users want to purchase communications services meeting their individual needs. This puts high demand on telecom operators to be able to offer flexible product bundles with customized pricing packages. In this area ConceptWave's solutions and employees' expertise adds considerable value to Ericsson's portfolio," said Ericsson’s Elisabetta Romano, Head of OSS in Business Unit Support Solutions in a release.
Zarar Rana, President and CEO of ConceptWave said that by joining with Ericsson they are becoming part of their global organization and can “leverage their industry-leading technology and services competence."
With the integration of previously acquired Telcordia, Ericsson claims it has the industry's most comprehensive OSS/BSS portfolio, a key element of any operator's network strategy. The solution will be a key element of Ericsson’s OSS/BSS-related activities at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona from February 14-17.
