EOD, from Rogers

TORONTO – As a bit of a political junkie, I’ve got to say that this is a cool use of the video on demand platform.

Rogers Communications announced today the addition of election-related information to its Rogers On Demand service in Ontario. As the first service offering of its kind in Canada and available only on Rogers, "Election On Demand 2006" will feature a wide array of information including content provided by the federal political parties who are running candidates in Ontario, and information from CPAC and Rogers Television.

As a part of the EOD service offering, the "Leaders in Your Living Room" feature will carry regularly-updated messages from each of the major parties that are running candidates in Ontario. The service will also showcase a CPAC series on Canada’s first fourteen Prime Ministers and starting in January, local election content from Rogers Television will be added.

This will be the first time in Canadian history that election content will be available on a VOD service. Ontario voters will benefit from the unique ability to bring the federal party leaders and their messages right into their living room whenever they want to through Rogers On Demand.

"Rogers On Demand is a valuable means of reaching out to a vast number of Ontarians. A winter holiday election presents difficult challenges and Rogers Cable wants to play its part in ensuring that voters in Ontario are equipped with sufficient information to make knowledgeable choices come Election Day,” said David Purdy, vice-president and general manager of television for Rogers Cable.
