Ellerman named new president of Canadian Communications Foundation

BURLINGTON, ON – The Canadian Communications Foundation (CCF) has elected Dr. Evelyn Ellerman as president, effective immediately.

Ellerman, pictured, is associate professor of communication studies at Athabasca University.  She joined the CCF board in 2011 and became vice-president in 2013.

She replaces Pip Wedge who has resigned from the CCF board after serving as its vice-president since 2004 and president from 2011.  Wedge was appointed executive director of the Foundation by the board effective January 1st, and his prime responsibilities will be editing and supervising the ongoing updates to the Foundation's Canadian broadcasting history website.

In other CCF news, Jack Ruttle was elected vice-president of the Foundation.  A board member since 2011, Ruttle began his career in broadcasting in Barrie, ON in 1955.  He joined CFTO-TV in Toronto in 1960 as promotion and program manager for nine years before being named vice-president of programming at CKLW-TV in Windsor.  He has also held general management positions at CJOH-TV Ottawa and CFCN -TV Calgary, and was named executive vice president of CTV in 1979.  Ruttle joined Power Broadcasting as vice chair in 1987 and retired in 1991.

Established by the Canadian Association of Broadcasters in 1967, the mission of the Canadian Communications Foundation is to "commemorate throughout Canada the development of electronic communications".
