ST. JOHN’S, NL – Eastlink Wireless has officially launched in in the greater St. John’s area as the company begins the rollout of its wireless service across Newfoundland and Labrador.

As it does in Nova Scotia, PEI and New Brunswick, Eastlink pledged to buy out new customer’s existing cellphone contracts, plus offer ‘easyTab’ which allows customers to upgrade or switch plans without penalty.  Nationwide plans begin at $25 per month, and a family of four can share 5 GB of data plus unlimited talk and text starting at $45 per line per month.

"We are excited to bring our award-winning wireless service to Newfoundland and Labrador," said CEO Lee Bragg, in Thursday's news release.  "We continue to invest heavily in expanding our wireless serving area to deliver the best possible wireless experience for more customers, offering them extensive network coverage and quality, combined with lower prices and exceptional customer service."

Customers can sign up now online or by calling in to its customer care centre.  Grand opening celebrations will take place this weekend at the new Eastlink retail location in the Avalon Mall.
