HALIFAX – EastLink will begin offering local content in high definition next month thanks to the arrival of its new mobile HD production vehicle, the only one of its kind in Eastern Canada.
It’s new community channel is scheduled to launch in July on channel 610 with coverage of the Eastlink Premiership soccer league, Quebec Major Junior League games, National Basketball League games, and Atlantic University Sport football. Locally-produced Eastlink TV shows like Welcome to my Kitchen, Doc Talk and Fishing with Friends will also be available in HD.
EastLink said that the launch of local HD in the Maritimes is just the beginning as it gears up to introduce local HD across the country.
"Eastlink has a well-established history of innovation," said CEO Lee Bragg, in the announcement. "Our multi-million dollar investment in this mobile HD production facility further demonstrates our commitment to leadership in delivering the highest quality local TV content to our customers."
