HALIFAX – EastLink and its employees helped raise $4,000 for the Sébastien Savage fund during the broadcast of a fundraising game played in honour of the injured Moncton Aigles Bleus hockey player.
He was left paralyzed in his upper and lower extremities after an accident during a game on October 22.
EastLink’s pledge line allowed viewer’s to participate by calling and providing a donation to this important fundraising event. EastLink received callers from viewer’s throughout the Maritimes and from across Canada who learned of the telethon and wanted to donate to Savage. Phone lines were open from 7 to 9:30 p.m. EastLink employees volunteered their time to answer calls and take pledges. All funds raised will be donated to Sébastien Savage fund.
“We knew we wanted to help and play a role in this worthwhile fundraising game,” said Dan McKeen, co-CEO, EastLink. “As a telephone and cable company, we were pleased to provide our services to help raise money and awareness for Sébastien and his family. It was what the game was all about… community partners coming together to help.”
The make-up game between the Saint Mary’s Huskies and Moncton Aigles Bleus was played at the Halifax Forum and broadcast on EastLink Television throughout Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. Rogers Television carried EastLink Television’s broadcast live to viewers in New Brunswick.
