EastLink moves into on demand


HALIFAX – MSO EastLink announced the launch of EastLink On Demand today.

The fifth largest Canadian cable company (serving Nova Scotia and PEI) said The Movie Network OnDemand will be the first VOD service available.

The Movie Network OnDemand will be launching progressively to all EastLink Movie Network customers over the next three to six months. The Movie Network OnDemand is exclusively available on cable and is included at no additional cost to subscribers of The Movie Network.

“EastLink has invested in on demand technology so we can provide our customers with the latest enhancements and conveniences that will allow them take control of their television viewing experience like never before,” said Dan McKeen, EastLink co-CEO. “The Movie Network OnDemand is the first of many OnDemand services that EastLink will be launching utilizing our two-way broadband network. This is a service that clearly differentiates EastLink from our satellite competitors.”

TMNOD has enjoyed high adoption and satisfaction among customers, which means "viewers are looking for superior content, convenience and control of their television viewing,” said Domenic Vivolo, senior vice-president, marketing and sales, Astral Television Networks.

TMNOD has few schedule constraints, giving viewers immediate access (after the original air date) to HBO and Showtime content, such as The Sopranos, as well as Hollywood hit movies, Canadian feature films and The Movie Network’s own original drama series. The service’s functionality allows viewers the ability to pause, stop rewind and fast-forward programs.
