Eastlink debuts HD programming in Nova Scotia and PEI


HALIFAX – Eastlink TV put its new state-of-the-art mobile HD production vehicle to work over the weekend by launching a new community HD channel (610) in Nova Scotia and PEI on July 1.

Eastlink says customers can expect to see local sports including Eastlink Premiership Soccer, AUS Football, Halifax Rainmen Basketball and Quebec Major Junior Hockey, as well as popular local series like Welcome to My Kitchen, Doc Talk, Eastlink Magazine, Island View, Fishing with Friends and Path of Yoga among others in HD.

"Eastlink TV viewers are passionate about our unique, high quality community programming," says Michael Smith, VP Eastlink TV. 

Since the arrival of the new HD Mobile production vehicle, Smith says Eastlink TV has been busy putting all of the key elements in place to prepare Channel 610 for its July 1 launch. He adds that the July 1 debut is just the beginning as Eastlink TV plans to introduce local HD across the country.

Eastlink TV will begin producing and airing live sports in HD later in the month including:

  • July 23:  First HD sports content – Eastlink Premiership Soccer
  • Sept 1:   Atlantic University Sport (AUS) Football Pre-Season Game 1 (Saint Mary's at Mount Allison)
  • Sept 8:   AUS Regular Season opener (Saint Mary's at Acadia)
  • Sept 21: Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Season Opener (Halifax Mooseheads at Cape Breton Screaming Eagles)
