Regional provider will buy out contracts, too

HALIFAX – Regional carrier Eastlink today announced a new way for wireless customers to upgrade their smartphones with new program called easyUp, which will allow customers to upgrade their cell phone every 12 months if they want.

“EasyUp is unlike anything else in our markets. It is designed for consumers who want to stay on trend with the very latest devices providing greater flexibility and a quicker, more seamless path for consumers to upgrade their phone after just one year,” said Deborah Shaffner, CEO, in the press release.

Customers can sign up for easyUp when they purchase a new device at an Eastlink store. Device Protection is included in the three plans which start at $15.99/month for less expensive devices like a Samsung A70, to $17.99/mo for devices such as an iPhone 8 to $19.99/month for devices like an iPhone XS Max or Samsung S10.

To upgrade, customers must return their registered device to an Eastlink store and your existing easyTab balance will be waived. All smartphones $0 down, and the company will buy out existing contracts with othere carriers, up to $200.

Eastlink offers mobile service in six provinces, including Nova Scotia, PEI, NB, NL, Ontario and Alberta. It has invested over $400 million in its network over the past six years, says the release.
