Eastlink COO Jeff Gillham takes over as CEO

Deborah Shaffner retires after nearly 26 years

HALIFAX – Eastlink has a new CEO – Jeff Gillham (above), who has been with the company since 2000, most recently as its chief operating officer.

This move, which happened in September, reflects “Eastlink’s passionate commitment to developing leaders from within the organization,” reads a company statement emailed to Cartt.ca.

Gillham, who has a degree in economics and political science from Mount Allison University, was born and raised in Nova Scotia and currently lives in Halifax.

When he started at Eastlink he led the company’s business sales team. “Since then, Jeff has assumed leadership roles across the organization including Business and Consumer Sales, Marketing, Product Management, and Operations,” the statement says.

“My goal is to keep growing the business and continue to foster the culture of mutual respect and accountability that we’ve invested in and worked so hard at over the past number of
years,” said Gillham, in the statement.

Gillham’s new appointment comes just after the company’s former CEO Deborah Shaffner decided to retire in August after nearly 26 years.

“Deborah led our business with a thoughtful, disciplined, intelligent approach and played an instrumental role in nearly all of our significant achievements over the years,” said Lee Bragg, Eastlink’s executive vice chair.

“We are grateful for her leadership and wish her health and happiness (and plenty of golf) during her retirement.”
