TORONTO – At its annual general meeting Wednesday in Toronto, CHUM Limited elected Denise Donlon to its board of directors.
"Denise Donlon’s keen understanding of the Canadian broadcasting system, together with her past experience as a leader in the music industry in Canada, make her an ideal addition to the CHUM Limited Board of Directors," said Jim Waters, chairman.
Donlon (right) was president of Sony Music Canada from 2000-2004. Of course, prior to that, she held a number of executive positions with CHUM Television including vice-president and general manager of MuchMusic and MuchMoreMusic and director of music programming for MuchMusic and Citytv. She got her start there as an on-air host.
Most recently, Donlon was a co-producer of Live 8 Canada and one of the organizers of last year’s Canadian tsunami relief television event on the CBC.
She is on the boards of the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) and the Music Education Committee, as well as Canada’s Walk of Fame, the Gzowski Literacy Foundation and Margaret Atwood’s company, UNOTCHIT. Donlon is a past chair of the Canadian Recording Industry Association and past co-chair of the recent Canadian Music Council.
In 2002, she was inducted into the Broadcast Hall of Fame by the Canadian Association of Broadcasters and in 2005, Ms. Donlon was invested with Canada’s highest civilian honour, The Order of Canada.
