TORONTO – Mobile production and transmission service company Dome Productions recently rolled Trillium out of the garage, its third high definition multi-format mobile production truck.
All three of the company’s HD trucks were designed and integrated in house by Dome Engineering for spring launches in each of the last three years (Majestic in March 2004, Horizon in May 2005 and Trillium in April 2006).
"These successive launches have allowed us to fine-tune and adapt design, equipment and efficiencies based on experiences with preceding trucks and the changing needs of clients and new markets," says Mary Ellen Carlyle, senior vice-president and general manager, Dome Productions.
Trillium is fully equipped to produce 5.1 surround sound and includes a unique back deck in the audio room allowing for easy add-on of additional gear required for larger productions. The mobile has a production monitor wall which utilizes an Evertz 10 output virtual monitor driver system and 47 conventional colour monitors, thereby providing production with versatility in the size and number of monitors available.
During the first two weeks of April, Trillium covered a variety of high-profile events in a wide range of locations. From its inaugural event in Toronto covering NBA Toronto Raptors basketball, events have included NHL hockey in Montreal and Ottawa, MLB baseball in New York, Toronto and Chicago, and a Coldplay concert in Toronto. In that same two-week period, Majestic and Horizon were on the road covering the Juno Awards in Halifax, the Masters Golf Tournament in Augusta, Georgia, NHL hockey in Montreal, Toronto and Tampa Bay, and MLB baseball in Boston, Toronto, New York, Miami and Atlanta.
Dome Productions is co-owned by CTV and Rogers.
