TORONTO – Dave Dobbins is out as president and CEO of new wireless provider Mobilicity.
According to a company news release, Dobbins left the company “to pursue other interests”. He is being replaced by Stewart Lyons, who formerly held the COO title, effective immediately.
In his new role, Lyons will oversee the execution of Mobilicity’s strategy as it further transitions from launch to growth phase. As a founding member of Mobilicity’s management team, Lyons will continue to work closely with the executive management team and John Bitove, who is assuming the role of executive chairman.
“Mr. Lyons’ broad industry experience, coupled with his strategic and operational credentials obtained during his tenure as Chief Operating Officer, makes him an ideal choice to lead Mobilicity as we move into the next phase of our company’s growth and development,” said Bitove, in the release. “We offer our thanks to Dave for his important contribution to Mobilicity through our initial launch phase and in building our network, and we wish him continued success in his future endeavours.”
Since launching service in Toronto in May 2010, Mobilicity has signed up more than 250,000 customers and claims to have the highest ARPU among the startup new entrants.
