TORONTO – Discovery’s newly launched TV Everywhere app Discovery Go is now streaming select titles in 4K on Samsung UHD TVs.  Viewers must first download the app from the SmartHub store on their Samsung UHD TV to enjoy the 4K content.

The Bell Media-owned network said Friday that its 4K programming includes Close Encounters, High Tech Rednecks, and Shark, in addition to How Hard Can It Be, one of the first original Canadian productions commissioned in 4K.  Additional 4K titles will be added regularly throughout 2016 including new seasons of River Monsters (January), Jade Fever (February), and How It’s Made: Dream Cars (March), with more to follow.

Discovery Canada also announced that its first original scripted drama Frontier, starring Jason Momoa (Game Of Thrones, Aquaman), is currently shooting in 4K and will be made available later this year as the service’s UHD inventory continues to expand.

“We are excited to reaffirm Discovery Canada’s leading role in offering viewers the very best from today’s technological innovations,” said Discovery VP and GM Ken MacDonald, in the news release. “We were first to offer a unique High Definition schedule, and now are at the forefront of this new resolution revolution with a growing slate of world-class Discovery content presented on Discovery GO in beautifully vivid 4K Ultra HD.”
