Director, Finance and Business Affairs / CPAC

The Role

The Director, Finance and Business Affairs is a strong leader who provides direction and management of CPAC’s financial and business affairs, overseeing all financial and accounting functions including budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, analysis, reporting, internal controls and compliance.

Primary Responsibilities:

Accounting responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Overseeing Accounting team to ensure accuracy of financial entries and adherence to internal controls.
• Monthly adjusting/accrual entries and working papers.
• Preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements for senior management and Board of Director reports.
• Coordination, preparation and presentation of budget and financial forecasts and analysis
• Cash flow management.
• Track KPIs.
• Identify and assess new business opportunities and develop strategies to attract new sources of revenues.
• Year-end statement preparation and regulatory financial reporting.
• Audit preparation and liaison with external accounting review firm for year-end audit.

Business affairs responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Contract negotiation, compliance, corporate insurance and legal matters.
• Collaborate with legal counsel to review contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
• Identify and assess new business opportunities.
• Develop strategies to attract new sources of revenue.

Qualifications (knowledge, skills and experience required):

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. CPA designation preferred.
• 5+ year’s experience in a senior finance role, preferably as a Director of Finance or similar position with a non-profit organization.
• Strong financial acumen and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial data, identify trends, and make strategic recommendations.
• Solid understanding of financial principles, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Demonstrated experience in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling.
• A problem solver, able to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing competing priorities effectively.
• High level of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to ethical business practices.
• Bilingualism (French and English) considered an asset.
• Experience with government grants is considered an asset.
• Past experience with a Canadian broadcaster an asset.
• Able to thrive in an environment that recognizes, supports, respects, and welcomes diversity of employees.
