
Canadians watched 1.63 million streams of Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games content on CBC/Radio-Canada’s digital platforms from March 6 to 15, which is more than triple the number of streams during the Beijing 2022 Paralympics, according to a Tuesday press release from CBC.
Audiences streamed a total of more than 682,000 hours of Milano Cortina Paralympics content on CBC Gem and ICI TOU.TV, the CBC News app and the Radio-Canada Info app, as well as the CBC and Radio-Canada websites dedicated to the Paralympic Winter Games, CBC said, noting that time spent streaming Paralympics content on CBC Gem increased 511 per cent from Beijing 2022.
The public broadcaster said 10 million viewers in Canada also tuned in to CBC/Radio-Canada’s coverage of the Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games across its English and French television networks, CBC and ICI TÉLÉ, citing Numeris TV PPM data.
Canadians spent an average of 1.3 million hours each day watching CBC’s Paralympic Winter Games broadcast television coverage, up 166 per cent compared to Beijing 2022, according to CBC.
More than 2.5 million Canadian viewers tuned in to the Opening Ceremony on March 6 on CBC/Radio-Canada television networks, which was close to double the TV viewership of Beijing 2022’s Opening Ceremony, according to CBC. The Closing Ceremony presented on March 15 on CBC/Radio-Canada television networks was watched by 2.8 million viewers, more than triple that of Beijing 2022’s Closing Ceremony, CBC added.
The Canadian Paralympic Team, composed of 50 athletes including guides, finished the nine days of competition with 15 medals — three gold, four silver and eight bronze.
