Digital content creation market to reach US$4.3 billion by 2012: Report

THE DIGITAL CONTENT CREATION market grew 16% to US$3 billion in 2006 from US $2.6 billion a year earlier, and will reach US$4.3 billion in 2012, according to a report released by Jon Peddie Research.

The report predicts that the fastest growing segment of the DDC market will be interactive development and video as the web offers new distribution networks and new programming that will enable more to be done on websites.

“The [DCC] landscape is changing right in front of us all. It’s all good, but companies are going to have to be nimble to adapt,” said Kathleen Maher, senior analyst at Jon Peddie and author of the DCC report.

Challenges will occur most notably in the graphics and imaging market, the report predicts, because individual consumers are beginning to be able to get free tools to adjust, crop and post/email their digital photos on their own.

Based in California, John Peddie is a technically-oriented multimedia and graphics research and consulting firm.
