VANCOUVER – Cloud-based communications start-up Dialpad has arrived in Canada to further its self-proclaimed worldwide pursuit to "kill the desk phone" and offer workers new ways to connect and work from anywhere.
The San Francisco-based company said that its business communications system, built on the Google Cloud Platform and integrated with Microsoft Office 365 and G Suit, is available on any device and includes voice, video, messaging and meetings.
It currently offers the following three service plans in Canada:
– the entry-level Standard package for $20 per user per month, which includes unlimited calling and texting in Canada and to the U.S., a company main line with a virtual receptionist, up to three group calling departments with time of day routing, and free conference calling with screen sharing;
– Dialpad PRO, which starts at $30 per user, per month, and includes additional features such as call queues, CRM integration with Salesforce, voicemail transcription, up to 25 departments, and up to 10 office locations, including cross-border and international locations; and
– the Enterprise package, with more features including guaranteed SLAs, Administrator APIs, a dedicated account management representative, deployment and onboarding services, unlimited departments, extension dialing, and unlimited seats. Enterprise package customers also receive enhanced 24/7 phone, email and chat services support, and hands-on account management.
CEO Craig Walker said that Canada represents “a massive opportunity to scale Dialpad across the provinces”.
"Canadian companies have long been saddled with legacy PBX service constraints, mostly from their native telcos”, Walker said in the news release. “They have been unable to break the cycle of overpriced monthly service fees and confusing long-distance calling plans. That's why it's time to modernize communications for every business, from the smallest office to the largest enterprise customers, across all industries, bringing the era of the Anywhere Worker to Canadians."
Dialpad has opened its first Canadian location in Vancouver and tapped Counterpath founder Erik Lagerway to lead the office. It also pledged to create at least 20 new full-time positions in engineering, marketing, and product management, and added that the newly formed Canadian team will provide full-service account management for mid-market and global enterprise customers, as well as for U.S. companies with a Canadian presence.
"It has become apparent over the last couple of years that the cloud will soon be dominating small business and enterprise communications in Canada," added Lagerway. "Our born-in-the-cloud solution is a perfect fit for a market characterized by an extremely high concentration of traditional phone companies that have a stranglehold on customers, pricing, scalability, and coverage. Dialpad is proud to offer our disruptive pricing and innovative services."
Dialpad is offering Canadian customers telephone numbers in the following 39 area codes: 204, 226, 236, 249, 250, 289, 306, 343, 365, 403, 416, 418, 431, 437, 438, 450, 506, 514, 519, 548, 579, 581, 587, 604, 613, 639, 647, 705, 709, 778, 780, 782, 807, 819, 825, 867, 873, 902, and 905.
Worldwide, Dialpad said that it has helped to move 48,000 customers to the cloud, with 85% of those customers completely eliminating their desk phones.
