HALIFAX – DHX Media is launching a new children’s subscription-based video on demand service this summer called Kids Room with shows drawn exclusively from its library of kids and family content.

The ad-free SVoD service, priced at US$4.99 per month, will be available Stateside on Comcast's Xfinity X1.  Kids Room will also be available on Xfinity Flex to Comcast's Internet-only customers.

A company spokesperson told Cartt.ca that there were no Canadian agreements to announce at this time.

Content available at launch will include preschool favourites like Bob the Builder, Fireman Sam, In the Night Garden, Teletubbies, Polly Pocket, and Strawberry Shortcake, as well as shows for older kids such as Slugterra, Kid vs. Kat, Chuck's Choice, Endangered Species, Storm Hawks, Sabrina: The Animated Series and Angela Anaconda.  More series will follow in the months ahead.

"Kids Room is a new offering for DHX Media, and we are delighted Comcast's Xfinity customers will be among the first to enjoy it," said DHX Television EVP and GM Joe Tedesco, in Tuesday’s news release.  "As one of the world's leading producers and owners of children's content, we see Kids Room as a natural touchpoint to entertain kids with great programming in the expanding landscape of streaming opportunities. We've selected some really fun shows for the service from our deep content library, and we're confident children are going to love Kids Room."
