HALIFAX – The first season of DHX Media’s animated series Mega Man: Fully Charged has been picked up for linear broadcast and video-on-demand streaming by Sony’s Pop on their channels and services in the U.K., the Republic of Ireland, the Isle of Man, Malta and Iceland.
The UK-based commercial kids’ broadcaster has added the show to its new on-demand Pop app available to all PlayStation 4 console owners, and will launch it on the linear channel in early 2019.
An original co-production with Dentsu Entertainment USA, Mega Man: Fully Charged is aimed at kids 6 to 11 (and their parents who grew up loving the video games), and features new technologies and robots, plus the introduction of Mega Man’s alter-ego, Aki Light, a normal, upbeat, schoolboy robot with nano-core technology that allows him to transform into the mega-powered hero Mega Man ready to do battle with the villains of Silicon City. The series premiered in the U.S. on Cartoon Network and in Canada on DHX Media’s Family CHRGD this summer.
North American viewers may catch clips and trailers on the dedicated Mega Man: Fully Charged YouTube channel on DHX Media’s WildBrain network. That channel will launch in the U.K. coinciding with the series’ debut on Pop.
“As the leading commercial kids’ broadcaster in the U.K., POP is the ideal platform to extend the international reach of Mega Man: Fully Charged,” said DHX Media president Josh Scherba, in the news release. “Our creative teams have delivered a fantastic update on the classic Mega Man, and we believe fans new and old are sure to love immersing themselves in these new adventures. With international broadcasters on board, its own YouTube channel on WildBrain, and a terrific line of toys expected next year, Mega Man: Fully Charged is poised to take the world by storm.”
