HALIFAX – Former Disney content owner DHX Media has sold some of its own content to Disney.
DHX Media said Monday that its new original performing arts drama Backstage (30 x 30') has been licensed to Disney Channel in the US, UK, France, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Nordics, Benelux, Germany, CEE, Turkey, Middle East, Africa, Australia and New Zealand.
Shot docudrama-style, the series follows a group of outstandingly talented teenagers as they live through the highs and lows that come with attending the prestigious Keaton School of the Arts – from new friendships and crowning achievements to the angst and disappointments of the high stakes competition. Backstage was created and developed by Fresh TV in association with DHX Television, and is slated to air on Family Channel in Canada this spring.
"There has been significant international interest in Backstage”, said SVP distribution Josh Scherba. “With Disney and Family Channel on board, we're building strong international foundations for this new live action series. We are confident that teens all over the globe will find the characters and storylines compelling viewing."
