Deadliest Catch spin-off debuts on Discovery Canada on May 19

TORONTO — Discovery Canada announced today a new six-part Deadliest Catch spin-off series — Deadliest Catch: Bloodline — will premiere Tuesday, May 19 at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.

After the death of famous Bering Sea Captain Phil Harris due to stroke 10 years ago, Deadliest Catch: Bloodline follows his son, Alaskan legacy fisherman Josh Harris (pictured), after he discovers a trove of Hawaiian fishing charts scribbled with Captain Phil’s handwriting. Josh and his business partner, Casey McManus, travel to the Kona coast of Hawaii and learn about the time his father spent there decades earlier.

In the premiere episode, “The Harris Legacy”, Josh and Casey enlist the help of Jeff Silva, one of Hawaii’s top commercial fisherman, to help them interpret Phil’s charts and to gain a deeper understanding of fishing in Hawaii. The pair will battle the elements, and each other, as they struggle to catch the island’s most lucrative bounty, ahi tuna.

In addition, new episodes of season 16 of Deadliest Catch (which premiered April 21) continue to air Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT on Discovery Canada.

Subscribers can access live streaming of Discovery programming through the Discovery Go app, and catch up on full seasons of Discovery series on demand through the Discovery app and at Discovery.ca.
