David Feherty joining SiriusXM to launch weekly golf show

TORONTO — SiriusXM Canada announced today well-known golf broadcaster David Feherty (above) is bringing his distinctive voice and witty perspective on the game to a new weekly show on the SiriusXM PGA Tour Radio channel.

The former-pro-golfer-turned-TV-broadcaster is teaming up with SiriusXM host and fellow former tour pro John Maginnes to debut Feherty and Maginnes on Monday evenings at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT, starting Jan. 3.

A preview episode of the show will air Dec. 1, at 5 p.m. ET/2 p.m. PT on SiriusXM’s PGA Tour Radio channel (Channel 92, available here in Canada).

Feherty and Maginnes will entertain listeners with great storytelling, long form interviews with personalities from the world of golf and beyond and will provide unfiltered commentary on golf news headlines,” reads a press release.

Feherty was born in County Down, Northern Ireland, and became a professional golfer in 1976, spending most of his playing career in Europe. During 1994 and 1995, he played mainly on the PGA Tour in the United States.

After retiring from competitive golf in 1997, Feherty began his career as an on-course reporter and golf analyst, first with CBS and then NBC. He hosted his own weekly primetime talk show called Feherty on the Golf Channel from 2011 to 2021, before the show was cancelled.

Since 2014, Feherty has entertained North American audiences on his live comedy tour, Feherty Off Tour – Wandering Around On His Own.

“David’s unique blend of wit and golf wisdom, and his experience from a lifetime in the game, really make him one of a kind,” said Scott Greenstein, SiriusXM’s president and chief content officer, in the release.

“SiriusXM is the perfect platform for his many great stories and the insightful and revealing conversations he’ll have with his guests. We are thrilled to pair him up with John and bring together two terrific personalities who will deliver an entertaining, must-listen show for our listeners.”

“I can’t wait to work with John Maginnes,” said Feherty. “He is one of my favourite people and SiriusXM will be a really fun platform for us. The over/under on both of us getting cancelled is about six weeks!”
