
TORONTO – Rogers Media announced Friday that David Battistelli has been named supervising producer of OMNI News: Italian Edition.
In this role, Battistelli will oversee all production and editorial of OMNI's Italian newscasts produced out of Montreal and Toronto as well as Focus Portuguese on OMNI.1 in Ontario. He will report to Manuel Fonseca, director of OMNI’s lifestyle and entertainment production.
"David is a highly respected journalist and producer, and his extensive experience both behind and in-front-of the camera will help us continue to produce engaging and informative news programming for Canada's Italian community," said Fonseca in the press release. "No stranger to the OMNI family, he also brings great passion and drive to the organization."
Battistelli returns to OMNI where he previously served for 20 years as the channel’s Parliamentary news bureau chief. Prior to joining OMNI in 1995, Battistelli started his career at CHRO Television in Pembroke, ON before moving to CHNO-FM and CJMX-FM in Sudbury, ON, where he held such roles as news and sports reporter, producer, and anchor.
Battistelli joins Charmaine Wong, Nathan Sekhon and Jake Dheer, who collectively oversee news and current affairs programming for OMNI Regional and OMNI Television's local stations in Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, and Vancouver.
