Dale Godsoe to lead Vision TV Board

TORONTO – VisionTV has appointed community leader and former Dalhousie University vice-president Dale Godsoe as chair of the multi-faith and multicultural network’s Board of Directors.

Godsoe, a member of the VisionTV Board since 2004, succeeds renowned historian Dr. Irving Abella as Chair.

Godsoe retired from Dalhousie last year, after serving for 10 years as Vice President External. She’s a Member of the Order of Canada, and is currently a Director of the National Arts Centre, the Halifax Urban Design Task Force, Symphony Nova Scotia, the National Ballet School, the Landmark East Foundation, the Provincial Autism Centre, and the Pier 21 National Foundation.

She has also served as Past Chair of Imagine Canada and Vice Chair of The Women in Media Foundation.

Godsoe’s involvement in the private sector has included directorships with the Investment Dealers Association, Halterm Inc., Viacom Canada Inc., Hambros Bank and The Maritime Telegraph and Telephone Co. Ltd.

She chaired the Board of Governors of Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax from 1987 to 1994, and was a Board member of the YWCA of Canada for 10 years, serving as national President from 1994 to 1996.

Godsoe’s experience in the not-for-profit sector also includes serving as a Director of the Atlantic Film Festival and the Halifax Metro United Way. She received an honourary degree from Mount Saint Vincent in 1997.

VisionTV President and CEO Bill Roberts said “we are honoured that Dale Godsoe has agreed to assume the position of Chair. Her wealth of experience in the public, private and not-for-profit realms will serve VisionTV well, as we chart a future for ourselves in the fast-changing Canadian television marketplace.

“We offer profound thanks to Dr. Irving Abella, whose steady leadership and sage counsel have been a constant source of strength as VisionTV has successfully confronted an array of challenges,” Roberts said.
