TORONTO – Canadian Women in Communications (CWC) has selected this year’s award winners in the categories of ‘Woman of the Year’ and ‘Employer of the Year’, plus the inaugural ‘Excellence in Leadership’ award.
Susanne Boyce, president of creative, content and channels for CTV, has been named Woman of the Year. The award recognizes an outstanding woman who has made a significant contribution to any sector of the communications industry throughout her career, and who has contributed materially to the advancement of women within the industry.
Employer of the Year goes to Xerox Canada, as an organization that has an outstanding history, and/or has demonstrated leadership in the promotion of women and has supported women’s advancement within the organization, particularly in non-traditional roles.
The CWC Excellence in Leadership award celebrates women of achievement who have distinguished themselves in any sector of the communications industry and have, in recent years, contributed to the industry through their achievements.
The recipients are: Nyla Ahmad and Robin McIntyre from Rogers Communications; Rochelle Grayson from Work at Play; Lesley McFarlane from MTS Allstream; Annie Ménard from Expertech Network Installation; Margot M. Micallef from Vista Radio; and Susan Wood from CBC, British Columbia.
The 2009 CWC Awards Gala will be held March 31 at the Fairmont Château Laurier in Ottawa.
