TORONTO — Curiouscast’s previously announced new investigative podcast Whatever Happened To…? launched today, with the first episode exploring the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster of 2011.
Featuring Global News reporter Erica Vella, the series takes listeners inside stories that once captured the world’s attention but have seemingly disappeared in the annals of time. Future podcast episodes will look at the Chilean mining accident, Zika virus, the Lac-Mégantic rail disaster, and more, with Vella speaking directly to the people affected by these stories.
“This podcast really highlights what journalists love to do best; digging deep and getting to know the people at the centre of these stories,” said Vella, in a Corus Entertainment press release announcing the podcast’s official launch today. “I’m incredibly excited to go through these stories with listeners, step by step, and discover what the developments are, learn new things, and get a glimpse into what life is like for the people and communities who have been impacted.”
