CTV’s ‘The Social’ eyes US market

TORONTO – CTV is shopping its new panel talk show The Social across the border in the hopes that it will be picked up for U.S. syndication next year.

Co-hosted by news anchor Melissa Grelo, relationship expert Cynthia Loyst, gossip blogger Lainey Lui, and entertainment reporter Traci Melchor (pictured below), the homegrown lifestyle series premiered September 2 on CTV.  It airs weekdays at 1:00 pm (2:00 pm AT) on CTV, 2:00 pm ET on CTV Two, and 7:00 pm ET on E!, as well as across CTV digital platforms including CTV.ca, TheSocial.ca, the CTV App, and the CTV Mobile channel on Bell Mobile TV.

PPI Releasing is offering the day-and-date series as a Monday-Friday strip to debut in broadcast syndication in Fall 2014, although discussions are also underway on a potential mid-season launch as early as January 2014.  The series is sold on a cash plus barter basis, with over 200 original episodes, a first for any first-run talk show launched in the last decade.
