CTV unveils free social app for iPad


TORONTO – CTV has launched a social app for the Apple iPad which promises to act as a companion during primetime television shows, and allow streaming of its popular programming on-demand.

The CTV App for iPad, available for free now on the App Store, features an interactive social environment to supplement the TV viewer’s experience for select shows in the eastern time zone only, letting them join in on the conversation with CTV iPad App hosts and other viewers, plus track commentary from actors, producers and other insiders.

It also allows viewers to watch shows such as Whitney, Grimm, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, The Colbert Report and The Daily Show, right from their iPad, starting this week.

“The CTV App offers an interactive social experience with compelling features that act as the ultimate companion to viewers’ favourite TV programs," said Jon Taylor, senior director of content for Bell Media Digital, in Thursday’s announcement.

Lexus was announced as the presenting sponsor of the app, with its hybrid luxury sportback Lexus CT 200h included in all digital promotions for the app and featured in pre-roll ads for on-demand streaming.
