TORONTO — CTV Toronto is kicking off its 26th annual Toy Mountain campaign today in support of The Salvation Army.
Each year, Toy Mountain collects new, unwrapped toys for families in need across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
Details about this year’s campaign were announced tonight on CTV Toronto’s CTV News at Six.
CTV Toronto anchor and reporter Andria Case leads the Toy Mountain collection effort while delivering live donation updates nightly from various collection stops across the GTA through to the culmination of the campaign on Monday, Dec. 20.
Viewers can also track campaign updates by visiting Toy Mountain’s dedicated online portal, which includes a list of drop-off locations, social media updates, and ways to make a financial donation to the campaign.
“It’s a great honour for our team to be a part of this beloved annual campaign,” said Michael Melling, general manager of CTV News Toronto, in a Bell Media press release. “We’re excited to share in the magic of giving with our viewers throughout this holiday season, as we witness the generosity and support of our remarkable community.”
“During the Christmas season, The Salvation Army continues to provide hope for thousands of families across the province who are dealing with the challenges of homelessness, food insecurity, unemployment and mental health,” said Glenn van Gulik, divisional secretary for public relations at The Salvation Army Ontario Division.
“For over two decades, The Salvation Army and CTV Toronto have partnered to eliminate barriers for our community’s most vulnerable and have worked together as innovative partners to bring joy into children’s lives.”
CTV Toronto drives promotional efforts for the annual Toy Mountain campaign, while The Salvation Army leads collection and distribution logistics. The campaign is made possible with the support of major sponsor Toronto Area Ford Dealers.
