TORONTO – CTV Toronto has launched an interactive online video platform that it says puts viewers in the heart of its latest news stories.
Shot via iPhone with ‘Dot’ technology from Kogeto, CTV’s 360 View allows viewers to go to its website and immerse themselves in news stories by seeing everything that’s happening from a 360 degree viewpoint. Viewers can choose which viewpoint they want to watch, and then virtually spin around inside by swiping or clicking on the video. (Check out a sample online by clicking here.)
“We’re reinventing storytelling by 360 degrees,” said Paul Rogers, SVP of CTV Toronto, in Monday’s announcement. “We want to make the news more interactive for our viewers. We want to bring viewers inside the news process by bringing them into the newsroom, onto locations with us, inside the control room, and into the stories we tell.”
