
TORONTO — CTV and youth-focused charitable organization WE announced today the WE Celebrate: Class of 2020 one-hour primetime special which will air Saturday, June 6 and will celebrate students and educators who have been making a difference throughout the school year and have been supporting their communities during the Covid-19 crisis.
The prime time special will be hosted by Lilly Singh and feature a star-studded lineup delivering Canada’s 2020 valedictorian addresses, one-of-a-kind performances and other surprises, says the news release. Joining Singh will be Tyrone Edwards, Selena Gomez, Brett Kissel, Shawn Mendes, Shay Mitchell, Natalie Portman, Jacob Tremblay, Liz Trinnear and Chloe Wilde, alongside WE co-founders Craig and Marc Kielburger.
“The 2020 school year is like no other. During these uncertain times, it’s important to us that we remain dedicated to celebrating students and teachers who have made lasting impacts this school year and who continue to prove that we really are in this together. We are honoured to bring closure to the academic year in a powerful way for students and educators from coast to coast.”
The celebration of change-making students will kick off with a week-long virtual road trip across Canada during the week of May 25th, which will make online stops in Atlantic Canada, Quebec, Ontario, the Prairies, B.C. and the Territories. The CTV broadcast of WE Celebrate: Class of 2020 will capture the ‘best of’ moments from the virtual road trip.
