TORONTO – CTV shuffled senior management this week in the wake of Keith Pelley’s surprise departure to Rogers Media.
Phil King has been promoted from president of TSN to president of sports and EVP of programming for CTV Inc., effective immediately. Reporting to CTV president and CEO Ivan Fecan, King assumes control over all of CTV’s sports interests, including TSN, RDS, TSN2, RIS Info Sports, NHL Network and ESPN Classic. Canada’s Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium will also report through King to Fecan, the company said Thursday. King is scheduled to announce succession plans at TSN and Canada’s Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium next week.
In his capacity as EVP of programming, King will report to Susanne Boyce, president of creative, content and channels at CTV, as her second-in-command.
Rick Brace, who gives up the sports responsibilities from his portfolio, will realign his focus and concentrate exclusively on the company’s revenue as president of revenue and business planning, the announcement continued. Brace will also remain chairman of the board of CTV Specialty Television Inc. and will stay involved with the Olympic Games as a senior advisor.
Elsewhere, Alon Marcovici has been promoted to EVP of digital media, reporting directly to Fecan, where he will be responsible for CTV’s overall digital media strategy and oversee the company’s initiatives across all digital platforms. He will also continue in his role as vice-president, digital media for Canada’s Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium.
