CTV offers U.S. series to Rogers On Demand

TORONTO – As first reported by Cartt.ca last month, CTV has made its new fall shows Gossip Girl, Big Shots and Pushing Daisies – all from Warner Bros. – to Rogers Cable’s video on demand customers.

The three shows become the first-ever U.S. network series that air on CTV to be made available on VOD. The announcement comes as Pushing Daisies was made available on VOD last week following its series premiere on CTV.

Free, full-length episodes of Gossip Girl, Big Shots and Pushing Daisies are now available 24 hours following their television broadcast on Rogers VOD. Tagged with CTV series promotions, the episodes are made available for six days, allowing viewers to catch up on any missed episodes. The CTV series on demand are packaged under "CTV" and are available on Rogers Channel 100 to Rogers customers with a digital box.

"CTV on Demand is the latest evolution in CTV’s offering of prime time programming in more ways the ever before, across multiple platforms," said Susanne Boyce, president, creative, content and channels, CTV Inc. "We’re honoured to partner with Rogers and Warner Bros. on an initiative that is sure to raise awareness of these new properties and reach additional viewers."

"Rogers has reached a whole new level with the addition of prime time episodic shows on demand from CTV," said David Purdy, vice-president and general manager, television services for Rogers Cable. "Since introducing on Demand five years ago, the library has grown to over 5,000 movies and shows including free children’s programming, Karaoke and nowfree prime time episodes like Gossip Girl."

Gossip Girl, Big Shots and Pushing Daisies are the first U.S. conventional television shows to be offered by CTV on Rogers VOD. They join a number of CTV specialty series and programs from Discovery Channel, The Comedy Network, MTV, MuchMusic, MuchMoreMusic, TSN and CTV Newsnet that are also available on Rogers VOD. Canadian programs and episodes currently available include Jeff Ltd., Girls will be Girls, Keys to the VIP, MuchMusic Countdown, MuchMoreMusic Countdown, Best of MOD and, coming soon, W-FIVE, Daily Planet, Myth Busters, Odd Job Jack and Degree Poker Championship. Also available on Rogers VOD are MTV series such as The Hills, Real World Denver and Punk’D.

In addition to the Rogers VOD service, CTV also announced today that viewers can access Gossip Girl, Big Shots and Pushing Daisies on demand at The CTV Broadband Network at CTV.ca following the broadcast premieres on CTV. The free, ad-supported episodes will be available for the duration of the run of the series, allowing viewers to catch up on missed episodes at their convenience. Availability of these U.S. Network dramas will be geo-gated and available to Canadians coast to coast who have broadband access through a Canadian-based internet service provider.
