CTV News to air special on state of the British monarchy on Canada Day

LONDON – Bell Media’s CTV News announced today it will premiere an exclusive half-hour special, Reporter’s Notebook: Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, tomorrow at 10:30 p.m. ET on CTV News Channel, CTVNews.ca and on the CTV News app.

Reporter’s Notebook: Queen’s Platinum Jubilee features CTV News London correspondent Daniele Hamamdjian who reflects on covering the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, a celebration of the Queen’s 70-year reign, a press release explains.

“It also examines the recent turmoil within the Royal Family – the alleged feud between Prince William and Prince Harry, public perceptions of Prince Charles and the prospect that someday he will become King Charles – and what that would mean for the future of the monarchy itself,” says the release.

“No matter what one’s views are on the Royal Family, many see Queen Elizabeth II as a separate entity,” said Hamamdjian, in the release. “The tremendous turnout for her Platinum Jubilee is a testament to the UK’s deep affection for Her Majesty. Whether that affection can and will transfer to Prince Charles is the major question facing the British monarchy.”

Director of photography David Lacolucci and editor Angelo Altomare contribute along with Hamamdjian to the special, which, in addition to airing at 10:30 p.m. ET tomorrow, will air on CTV News Channel at 11:30 p.m. local time and will be available on-demand on Crave as of July 2.
