CTV News Channel revamps format, adds three new shows

TORONTO – CTV News Channel tweaked its format Monday, plus added three new shows and some new on-air talent.

The 24-hour news channel has now moved to a two-anchor format for much of the day, which it says allows for a more informal and conversational approach.

New anchors Amanda Blitz, Rudyard Griffiths, Tasha Kheiriddin, and Scott Reid have also joined the network’s news team and will be featured prominently in the new shows Express, Direct, and National Affairs.

“The 24-hour, all-news universe presents new opportunities to engage with viewers by embracing new technology and new programming – and we’re investing in those opportunities,” said Wendy Freeman, president of CTV News, in the announcement. “Our mission is to find new ways to do it better, faster and smarter, while always keeping what viewers want top of mind.”
