CTV multi-plats Putin exclusive

TORONTO – CTV News has scored an exclusive interview with Russian president Vladimir Putin, and its airing at 3 p.m. this (Tuesday) afternoon is just the beginning.

It’s the first time President Putin has granted such an interview to a Canadian broadcaster and while the complete interview will air on CTV Newsnet at 3 ERT, the interview will also be seen on CTV.ca, via the CTV mobile video news service, and then again on CTV National News with Lloyd Robertson at 11 p.m.

In anticipation of the G-8 summit meeting in St. Petersburg later this week, CTV’s Moscow bureau chief Ellen Pinchuk will sit down with the president to talk about North Korea, Iran, Monday’s death of Chechen warlord Shamil Basayev, energy concerns, and democracy in Russia.

The interview is the latest in a string of high-profile sit-downs granted to CTV News, including a chat with U.S. president George Bush earlier this year.

Footage from the CTV News interview with President Putin will also air on Canada AM on Wednesday, July 12. Ellen Pinchuk will provide analysis and context on www.CTV.ca, too.
